Little Walnut (Juglans microcarpa), sometimes known as Texas Walnut or River Walnut, is a small, deciduous tree or shrub in the Walnut family (Juglandaceae). It is a small tree or shrub, often with a round-crowned, shrubby appearance. Produces the smallest nuts of any walnut species; primarily eaten by wildlife in its native habitat. Grows in a variety of locations, including dry, rocky ravines, hillsides & stream banks. This species is very heat tolerant and can withstand drought conditions. Can grow in part shade to full sun.
