The Shellbark Hickory is a native tree of moist bottomlands and floodplains. The largest of the true hickories and the nut is the largest of the other species. This tree features odd-pinnate compound leaves with each leave having seven dark green, finely-toothed, broadly lance-shaped, pointed leaflets. It has great wildlife value to many mammals and bees.
